Select Board votes 5-0 to add school committee vacancy to March 31 ballot
SUDBURY — January 24, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board votes 5-0 to put resigning school committee seat on March 31 ballot. At a brief Jan. 24 special meeting, the board directed Town Clerk Beth Klein to add the Sudbury Public Schools Committee seat vacated by Mary Stevens to the annual town election warrant before the statutory deadline. Member Janie Dretler moved the directive; Lisa Kouchakdjian seconded. "I understand that we don't necessarily have to do this, but I think it's the right thing to do," member Charles Russo said. Klein told the board she had already received interest in the open two-year term and needed only three electronic signatures to act. Chair Jennifer Roberts said she had spoken with Sudbury Public Schools Committee Chair Nicole Bernard about a possible joint interim appointment before the election. The board also agreed to post Wednesday's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission meeting as one at which a Select Board quorum might attend.
