Select Board designates pro and con authors for March 27 ballot questions

SUDBURY — February 15, 2023 — Sudbury Select Board assigns ballot question authors after no resident steps up to oppose. The board voted 5-0 on Feb. 15 to designate the School Committee and superintendent as pro authors for a full-department school override and Fire Chief John Whalen as the pro author for a pumper truck capital exclusion on the March 27 town election ballot. With no con arguments submitted by the Feb. 14 noon deadline, town counsel will draft the con arguments for both questions under the board's policy, Town Manager Andy Sheehan said. Final argument language is due Feb. 23, and the board will vote the warrant on Feb. 28. Member Janie Dretler said the School Committee did "a good job of vetting the issues" in its statement. Member Lisa Kouchakdjian called the packet materials "very clear and well done."
