Planning Board approves six-tree removal for new driveway at 25 Plympton Road

SUDBURY — May 27, 2027 — Sudbury Planning Board approves six-tree removal at 25 Plympton Road to fix fire-truck access. The board voted 3-0 Wednesday to authorize the cuts — one 12-inch birch, one 12-inch oak, one 6-inch birch and three smaller deciduous trees — plus removal of 10 feet of an existing stone wall, after engineer Vito Colonna of Cornerstone Engineering said the existing shared driveway forced a turn the fire department "could not" make during a recent response. Replication will include two sugar maples and an American hornbeam. The approval, moved by Vice-Chair John Sugrue and backed by Chair Stephen Garvin and member Kirsten Roopenian, attached two conditions: stump grinding per the Tree Warden, and preemptive removal of saplings in the sight-distance triangle. Members Anuraj Shah and Julie Zelermyer Perlman were absent. Planning Director Adam also announced Ariel Power has filled the assistant planning director position after a three-year vacancy.
