LS School Committee cuts network capital ask to $80,000, approves six student trips

SUDBURY — January 13, 2025 — Lincoln-Sudbury committee cuts network capital request to $80,000 and approves six overnight trips. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to reduce a previously approved $150,000 capital request to $80,000 after IT Director Dennis Phillips secured a $78,151 state-contract quote — before an expected 40-50 percent E-rate reimbursement. Chair Ravi Simon called it "the easiest school committee vote on the planet." Sudbury Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran briefed members on the town's ADA self-evaluation, warning consultant cost estimates should be "taken with a grain of salt." Business Manager Susan Bottan said the FY27 budget gap, initially $318,000, is shrinking ahead of the Jan. 27 public hearing. Members approved a French exchange to Lyon, a Holocaust/Cold War trip to Berlin, Prague, Warsaw and Krakow, an Outdoor Club Mount Moosilauke trip, DECA state and international competitions, and the annual Habitat for Humanity Baltimore service trip.
