LS committee approves $2.69M roof, sets 28-cent EV charging rate

SUDBURY — September 24, 2024 — Lincoln-Sudbury school committee approves $2.69M roof, 28-cent EV rate, and SRO letter. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to advance roof replacement as the district's sole FY26 capital request to Lincoln and Sudbury, then selected GRLA Architects' Option 2 — Low Slope Fluid Applied Restoration — at an estimated $2,690,000 with a 20-year warranty, roughly 40 percent of Option 1's cost. Member Kevin Matthews credited facilities manager Kevin Rossley's preventative maintenance, saying he had been "convinced otherwise" after initially favoring the more extensive option. The committee also set a $0.28 per kilowatt-hour rate for the high school's newly installed EV chargers on the recommendation of Director of Finance Kirsteen Patterson and Tradition Energy, with a six-month review planned. Members authorized Chair Ravi Simon to send a letter affirming the SRO position to Police Chief Scott Nix, the Select Board, and Town Manager Andy Sheehan amid a department reported to be roughly a quarter understaffed.
