Finance Committee approves 2024 annual report, tables ambulance privatization study

SUDBURY — January 27, 2025 — Sudbury Finance Committee approves 2024 report, tables ambulance study at brief January meeting. The committee voted 9-0 to approve its annual report for inclusion in Sudbury's annual report, with member John Baranowsky drafting and Co-Chairs Michael Joachim and Michael Ferrari editing. Finance Director Victor Garofalo reported that Gov. Maura Healey's House 1 budget proposes $6,005,344 in Chapter 70 aid for Sudbury — within $656 of the town's $6,006,000 forecast — and 2.2 percent growth in unrestricted aid versus a 1 percent local projection. A proposal from member Henry Sorett to recommend a warrant article studying ambulance-service privatization was tabled for lack of new information; Sorett said outsourcing could "reduce your headcount in the fire department significantly." Member Andrew Bettinelli reported the Community Preservation Committee recommended all nine FY26 articles, with the Pine Lakes housing conversion and Hosmer House requests drawing the most discussion. The committee also approved December and January minutes 9-0 and adjourned in 43 minutes.
