Conservation Commission issues septic and tree-removal orders, closes Maple Meadows restoration

SUDBURY — November 13, 2023 — Sudbury Conservation Commission clears two orders, closes a five-year meadow restoration, and continues four wetlands cases. Chair David Henkels led a five-member quorum (Member Luke Faust absent) through 15 items Nov. 13. Orders of conditions issued for septic work at 26 Alta Road (Member Jeremy Cook recused) and 200 Concord Road — the latter with a deed restriction capping the house at four bedrooms and the on-site dental office at one dentist — plus tree-removal mitigation at 38 Robert Frost Road including three snags and 30 native shrubs. Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone said invasives, not tree loss, posed "the bigger impact to aura." A certificate of compliance closed DEP file 301-1243 at Maple Meadows, where Scott Fisher of SWCA reported 83 percent desirable-species cover across four acres after five years of twice-yearly mowing. At 25 Bridle Path, homeowner David Watson said a contractor took "a very expansive view" and felled 15 to 20 trees, some live; the hearing was continued to Dec. 18 with a site visit set for the week of Nov. 27.
