Conservation Commission endorses $50,000 CPA grant for Broad Acres community garden

SUDBURY — November 14, 2022 — Sudbury Conservation Commission endorses up to $50,000 in CPA funds to build a new community garden at Broad Acres. Organizer Brett Valero outlined roughly 60 plots measuring 30 by 30 feet on the town-owned parcel, funded by an irrigation well that Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone said could also support future agricultural leasing. Capone called the existing Lincoln Meadows hand pump inadequate, noting it "goes dry just about the time that you need it most." Commissioners then issued a negative determination for an 8-by-12-foot shed at 35 Crystal Lake Drive on a 4-1 vote, with member Kathleen Rogers dissenting after applicants Cheryl and Paul Brown declined to relocate the structure farther from wetlands. The board also closed out a 1979 order of conditions at 7 Goodman's Hill Road after unpermitted sheds were removed.
