Conservation Commission delays Massasoit Avenue teardown amid abutter challenges

SUDBURY — September 12, 2022 — Sudbury Conservation Commission delays Massasoit Avenue teardown after abutters challenge applicant's numbers. The commission on Sept. 12 continued a notice of intent from property owner Janata Stork to Oct. 3, ordering a site walk before any vote. Joyce Hastings of GLM Engineering told the panel the rebuild would reduce impervious surface by seven square feet, but abutter Glenn Merrill-Skoloff presented drone-based measurements alleging a roughly 50 percent hardscape increase. Neighbor Michael Cameron said the submitted floor plans show "clearly a six-bedroom house," not the four bedrooms in the application. Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone listed more than a dozen outstanding items including Japanese knotweed management. Separately, the commission set up a 53G account accepting $133,600 from Eversource to fund 18 months of Parcor environmental monitoring on the Sudbury-to-Hudson transmission project.
