CIAC backs $950,000 DPW culvert article, tables Atkinson Pool funding
SUDBURY — March 17, 2025 — Sudbury CIAC clears $950,000 culvert package, tables pool supplemental for April bids. The Capital Improvement Advisory Committee voted 5-0 March 17 to recommend Article 31, a flexible DPW account that will push the Old Sudbury Road culvert into construction and fund design for the Maynard Farm Road culvert, which failed Feb. 26. New DPW Director Tina Revai told members Sherman Bridge will likely require a $500,000 fiscal 2027 ask, warning the town is "very close to having to shut that bridge down" without aggressive MassDOT-driven repairs. The committee tabled the $779,000 Atkinson Pool supplemental — which pushes total project costs near $3.3 million — until bids return April 19, after a redesigned RFP replaced a performance specification with unit pricing on tile repair. Members Ark Pang, Thomas Travers, Susan Asbedian-Ciaffi, Richard and Chair Matthew Dallas voted in favor; Peter Iovanella and Lisa Saklad were absent.
