Capital committee recommends Saklad, previews preliminary five-year town plan

SUDBURY — January 25, 2023 — Sudbury capital panel forwards Saklad nomination and previews a preliminary $7.3M town hall restoration. The Capital Improvement Advisory Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend that the Select Board appoint Lisa Saklad, a 16-year resident with a finance background, to its vacant seat for a three-year term; Chair Susan Asbedian-Ciaffi recused herself, citing a long personal acquaintance. Acting facilities director Sandra walked members through draft FY24 requests including a $1.02 million E-One Typhoon fire engine, a $400,000 DPW garage solar-ready roof, a $310,000 interior school camera project, a $300,000 space-use study, a $200,000 ADA transition installment and a $160,000 Curtis Middle School AV upgrade, and warned that the Atkins Pool rooftop dehumidifier is "on hospice." Free cash was certified at $1.3 million. The committee re-elected Asbedian-Ciaffi as chair, named Matthew Dallas vice-chair and re-elected Sue Abrams as clerk.
