Sudbury Senior Center panel details home care, elder law and the local shortage of geriatric primary care. A five-member panel organized by Novalee Palm Health and the Council on Aging convened June 23 to walk residents through aging-in-place resources and field roughly a dozen audience questions. Novalee's Sean Barry distinguished Medicare-covered skilled home care from private-pay activities-of-daily-living support.

Attorney Jillian Pickett of Generations Law Group urged families to execute durable powers of attorney, health care proxies and HIPAA authorizations before capacity is lost, warning that gaps force families into public conservatorship and guardianship proceedings. Dr. Joel Bauman, a geriatrician and Council on Aging board member, said Sudbury Fire responds to "like three a day" fall calls involving residents over 65 and told the audience "only 10 percent of what's actually shared ends up getting remembered" in an emotionally charged clinical visit.

Nurse Kathy Thomas said roughly 22,000 Massachusetts residents live with Parkinson's disease.
