LS superintendent search profile to post Feb. 1 over member's objection

SUDBURY — January 26, 2023 — Lincoln-Sudbury superintendent search profile heads out Feb. 1 over a member's objections. The LS Superintendent Search Subcommittee agreed Thursday to release the candidate profile through MASC on Feb. 1 with a Feb. 24 application deadline, pushing a hoped-for hire toward late March. Member Candace Miller called the document dated and inaccurate, objecting to bullets citing Boston Magazine and U.S. News rankings as educational goals — "that's a real estate goal" — and a "marketing focus" line she could not parse. Chair Kevin Matthews said the profile is "a living document" and that delay would cost candidates to competing districts. Consultant Glenn Koocher, who briefed members on legal requirements, will return next Thursday to walk the screening committee through survey results and focus groups that drew more than 70 educators and support staff. The subcommittee also reopened its Dec. 22 minutes to change "failed to appear" to "absent."
