Lincoln-Sudbury search subcommittee approves survey, sets January listening sessions
SUDBURY — January 5, 2023 — Lincoln-Sudbury superintendent search advances over objections about screening committee transparency. Chair Kevin Matthews and member Harold Angstrom defended an 11-member screening committee slate negotiated between them, including Tara Mitchell for Lincoln schools, Martha Wall and Damon Kelton from faculty, and community representatives, after member Candace Miller said residents had no chance to volunteer. Miller's motion to reopen community seats and add representatives from the Community Parent Advisory Council and school site council failed for lack of a second. Matthews said expanding further would derail a compressed timeline, calling the urgency argument from search consultants who promise "plenty of time" a "load of crap." Search consultant Glenn Koocher of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees confirmed the community survey is out and listening sessions are set for Jan. 11 and 12. The next meeting is 5 p.m. Jan. 12.
