LS Regional School Committee approves FY24 capital request and staff contracts

SUDBURY — September 27, 2022 — Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School Committee clears FY24 capital plan and two staff contracts in unanimous votes. The committee voted 5-0 three times on Sept. 27 to approve the fiscal 2024 capital request, the FY2023-2025 support staff handbook and the administrative memorandum of agreement for the same period. Director of Finance and Operations Kirsteen reported the capital package was filed with Lincoln by a Sept. 23 deadline and said an electric athletic van had been priced at roughly $290,000 per unit with a 12-month build — "not prudent" at this time. Director of Technology Dennis Phillips told the committee 71 percent of incoming ninth graders had accepted school-issued Chromebooks, and that every classroom now stocks spare devices. Superintendent Bella said Athletic Director Art Riley is consulting students, police and parents on a possible shift from the district's 20-year-old "presence of alcohol" rule to the MIAA possession standard.
