Lincoln-Sudbury committee names three-member subcommittee to lead superintendent search

SUDBURY — October 25, 2022 — Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School Committee launches superintendent search with three-member subcommittee. The panel unanimously appointed Candace Miller, Harold Engstrom and Kevin Matthews on Tuesday to vet search firms and build a candidate profile, with Engstrom convening the first meeting. Chair Heather Kopf said the target start date is July 1 but that "it's more important that we're focused on finding the right person for LS than that we do it in a given amount of time." Members, led by Kara Morczynski, also opened debate over whether to split the combined superintendent-principal role into two jobs. Director of Finance Kirsten Patterson reported Oct. 1 enrollment of 1,483 — down 30 — and warned of a 14 percent state-set increase in private special-education tuition rates for FY24, after years of increases under 2.5 percent.
