L-S search subcommittee sets January listening sessions, delays superintendent survey

SUDBURY — December 22, 2022 — Lincoln-Sudbury search subcommittee sets January listening sessions, parks survey for superintendent hunt. Meeting virtually Dec. 22 with Glenn Koocher, executive director of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, the panel agreed to launch community and faculty listening sessions the week of Jan. 9 rather than the first week of January, citing the holiday return and Jan. 19 midterms. Subcommittee member Harold pressed to scrap open-ended survey questions sent to roughly 3,200 parents in favor of Likert-scale items, warning the committee must "avoid any circumstance where any two people could look at the same set of responses and come away with different conclusions." Koocher told members state law bars a School Committee majority on the confidential screening panel, which the subcommittee plans to staff with nine to 12 members including a parent, administrator, student, faculty or union representative, METCO representative, and select board liaisons from Lincoln and Sudbury. The subcommittee meets again at 6 p.m. Dec. 29.
