Sudbury's DEI Commission voted to co-sponsor a Sept. 28 domestic violence prevention forum and authorized a push for outside grant funding for its stalled equity audit. Commission members Safa Khan, Kimberly, Thomas and Janine Taylor voted 4-0 on both measures during a remote meeting that doubled as a stock-take of thinning volunteer ranks. The commission backed "Building Culturally Safe Communities Together," a free Middlesex County Domestic Violence Roundtable event featuring Mass WOCN executive director Kishana Osei, at no cost to the town.
Members also authorized Kimberly to work with town staff member James on partnering with Wayland's DEI commission for equity-audit grant money after an earlier roughly $10,000 to $15,000 ARPA allocation went largely unspent before its deadline. One member said the panel plans to ask the Select Board for a standing budget line at an upcoming joint meeting, noting residents "aren't chomping at the bits to join this wonderful commission."
