SPS Superintendent Search Working Group, With Collins Center · Meeting of October 2, 2026

SUDBURY — The Sudbury Public Schools Superintendent Search Working Group met with Collins Center consultants to plan a timeline for hiring a new superintendent. Chair Jessica MacReady and Vice Chair Betsy discussed forming a screening committee of "between 13 and 17" members, with Collins Center's Mary Carty, Bill Lepini and Marie Altieri walking through the process. Lepini warned against sending a finalist slate back to the screening committee for reconsideration, saying "it never works." Carty explained that under Massachusetts law, certified finalists' names become public, adding "it means your name's going to be public." Interim Assistant Superintendent Carol Kavanaugh, who confirmed she is not applying for the job, will serve as the district's point of contact.

The group targeted screening-committee approval around October 26 and adjourned on a 2-0 voice vote at 2:53 p.m.
