September 11th Memorial Garden Oversight Committee · Meeting of September 11, 2026
Sudbury marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with its annual memorial garden ceremony. Kirsten Rupenian, speaking for the 9/11 Memorial Garden Committee, told families of victims Cora Hidalgo-Holland, Peter Morgan-Goodrich and Geoffrey Cloud that the town has "simply learned to stand beside" them over the past 25 years. Stephen Holland, husband of Cora Hidalgo-Holland, read a poem in place of Beth Farrell, who was unable to attend, saying he was grateful for how "the town of Sudbury and this Memorial Garden Committee has kept the memory of our loved ones alive." The program included an invocation, a public remembrance of lost names, a wreath-laying led by Barbara Clifton and a color guard, and a closing performance of "America the Beautiful" by Jessica Newman and her husband, Jeff.
No town business, budget item or vote was taken; the gathering was purely commemorative.
