Sudbury's Liberty Ledge/Sewataro Advisory Committee postponed its most contested recommendation, on lease length for the Camp Sewataro operator, to an Oct. 1 meeting. Chair Dave Henkels and members Radha Garaya, Jennifer Pincus, Deb Deneen, Kay Bell and Granger Atkinson unanimously approved minutes of the July 23 and Sept. 10 meetings as amended. Staff member James Goody Murray urged firmer language recommending a long-term lease, while Bell countered that the committee should not commit to "a 20-year agreement if it isn't a good enough agreement," citing unmet commitments from the camp's original proposal.
Camp manager Scott Brody told the committee during public comment it was "unfair... to be held to almost an impossible standard" on ideas floated in that proposal but never written into the actual agreement. The committee's final report to the select board is due Oct. 31; a public input session is set for Oct. 8.
