Sudbury capital committee previews FY24 warrant articles before joint meeting

SUDBURY — February 8, 2023 — Sudbury's Capital Improvement Advisory Committee previews more than $1 million in emerging Atkinson Pool costs. At a Feb. 8 prep session for the town's joint capital meeting, Chair Matthew Dallas led members through fiscal 2024 requests including $600,000 to replace the 40-year-old pool's dehumidification equipment and a last-minute $480,000 ask for piping, valves and grout after pressure tests found compromised lines. The piping work alone is estimated at $275,000. Member Susan Asbedian-Ciaffi questioned the cumulative spending on a pool declared sound during the $28 million Fairbank Community Center project, asking whether the town is "facing $2 million worth of repairs." The committee also reviewed a $400,000 DPW garage roof tied to a solar array locking in a seven-cent supply rate, a $300,000 facility condition study, $310,000 for school security cameras, and Sudbury's $206,000 share of a Lincoln-Sudbury camera replacement.
