Sudbury capital committee backs five articles, tables Fairbank AV request

SUDBURY — February 15, 2023 — Sudbury capital committee recommends five articles totaling over $1.3 million, tables $200,000 Fairbank AV request. The Capital Improvement Advisory Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend a $450,000 school HVAC package, $160,000 for Curtis Middle School audio-visual and assisted-listening upgrades, $310,000 for interior cameras at the five Sudbury Public Schools, and a $206,652 Sudbury share of a $236,336 Lincoln-Sudbury camera upgrade. A $200,000 fire department storage building cleared on a 5-0-1 vote, with member Susan Asbedian-Ciaffi abstaining over the lack of siting detail. Members tabled a late-added Select Board article seeking $200,000 for enhanced Fairbank AV equipment after the town's facility director said design work is still underway. "There is a shared experience of not feeling heard," she told the panel, citing senior-center users who wanted universal accessibility beyond the legal minimum funded last year. Chair Matthew Dallas said recommendations are due to the Finance Committee by mid-March.
