Sudbury calendar subcommittee proposes annual absentee data review as trigger for calendar changes. The two-member SPS Calendar Review Subcommittee, meeting February 27, agreed to recommend that student and staff absentee data be pulled each summer and presented to the full School Committee as a standing agenda item, with a fuller family survey every five to seven years. Member Nicole said the annual cadence would keep the process in "the muscle memory" of the district after last fall's difficult tri-district review.
Member Betsy Griffin cautioned that single-year data can be skewed by outliers like the solar eclipse or a stomach bug that sidelined roughly a thousand students. The superintendent said Lincoln-Sudbury generally does not coordinate its calendar until October, complicating a proposed two-year calendar. The subcommittee approved minutes from September 10 and October 3, 2025, and will reconvene in March after collecting written feedback from the full School Committee.
