Sudbury's Agricultural Commission elected new officers at its first meeting in years. Members unanimously backed Victor Sokowski as chair and Laura Abrams as vice chair, with each abstaining on their own nomination. Select Board liaison Dan Carty told the five-member panel he was "very excited that you guys are back in business." Abrams, a fourth-generation owner of Bartlett Greenhouses, pushed back on plans for a public survey, saying outreach should reach farmers first: sending a poll to the public, she said, "already puts the farmers on a backseat." The commission agreed to cross-reference the town's Chapter 61A farmland tax list with Farm Bureau membership, draft a letter to farmers, and invite state agricultural resources staff or Concord's agricultural commission to a future session.
The next meeting is set for October 22.
